Yearly Meeting Sessions

Yearly Meeting 2010 will be July 25-29

  • Sunday night, July 25, Colin Saxton will present the keynote address
  • Monday night, July 26, we will experience the Outreach Celebration
  • Tuesday-Wednesday, July 27-28, will be our special speaker, Scott Daniels
  • Thursday, July 29, we will close with our Celebration Banquet

Join us as we explore our theme together:

“Northwest Yearly Meeting is called to be a community of ministers. As we go deeper in our relationship with God we are freed from the hindrances that can distract us from ministry. Together we’ll explore how “fixing our eyes on Jesus” helps us move into a place of unencumbered freedom…freedom to be the people God needs us to be, providing the healing the world desires.”

Special Speaker:

Scott is the Senior Pastor at Pasadena First Church of the Nazarene (PazNaz) and is a frequent guest speaker in churches, camp meetings, lecture series and college campuses.  Before moving to California, Dr. Daniels was a professor of theology for seven years at Southern Nazarene University and senior pastor at the Church of the Nazarene in Richardson, TX for four years.  Scott and Debbie have four children: Caleb, Noah, Jonah and Sophie.  They love to vacation together as a family and they participate in many sports and music activities.  Scott has a Ph.D. from Fuller Theological Seminary in Theology and Ethics and has contributed to several books, journals and magazines. His most recent book, Seven Deadly Spirits: The Message of Revelation’s Letters for Today’s Church, was recently published by Baker Academic Press.

At Northwest Yearly Meeting, Scott will speak Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday night. There are two important questions the Church must always ask. Scot plans to discuss with us: What is God doing in the world? And what does the Church look like that understands what God is doing in the world? There are all kinds of terms being used today to describe the future of the Church: the Emerging Church, the Deep Church, the Ancient-Future Church, the Millennial Church, the Organic Church, the Multi-Generatonal Church, the Multi-Cultural Church, etc. What are the common themes and the legitimate concerns that seem to be arising from all of these various “future-church” conversations? But most important how can the Church hear these conversations so that it doesn’t miss out on what God is doing as he brings about the redemption of his creation.

Below are links to information that we hope you will find helpful as you consider joining us in Newberg for Yearly Meeting 2010. We will also be live-streaming the evening addresses, so even if you cannot make it, you can join us individually or as a group, for worship and challenge.
