Happy 4th! It’s great to get a chance to share with you guys on this exciting adventure of ours in Ireland. So as you’re getting ready to celebrate Independence Day with fireworks and parties and food, remember us who unfortunately couldn’t smuggle fireworks through customs(:
First, before I tell you about today, HI MOM AND DAD AND JESS AND JADE! I miss you a lot. See you in three weeks!
Okay so today started off with an Irish breakfast of Cheerios, cornflakes, fruit, yogurt, and grapes at a bright and early time of 9:00. After that, we had devotions and solo time, and played some games. That was fun.
Then, we went to a BBQ joint with Aioife and her boyfriend Peter. This was a unique BBQ joint in that Sam and I split a meal of Kangaroo steak, Crocodile, and White Shark. I’ll show you pictures of it when I get back maybe. The kangaroo tasted like beef, the crocodile like chewy chicken, and the white shark like cod a little bit.
Afterwards, we headed off to the mall to look for gifts. The highlight of my time there at least was meeting this Irish car salesman named Luke and he was really interested in what we are doing in Ireland. He said he was a non practicing Catholic and I got the chance to tell him about the Quaker faith and how we do open worship to listen to God. It was funny, we were sitting in the car he was trying to sell but he barely even spoke about the car as much as he just talked to me. I learned that sometimes getting into the car display in a shopping mall can be a good thing. Neither of us seemed to consider the unorthodoxy of such a situation, but both of us seemed to appreciate the conversation. At least I did.
Next, we went to Peter’s house to eat a dinner of hotdogs. We played some interesting games, one involving tearing up a cereal box, the other was weird. We made Pterodactyl noises. Then, we watched Tarzan and went home.
That’s all we did today, though learning experiences were different for everyone. I look forward to telling more about details when I get back! Thanks everyone for the support!
Love you and miss you mi familia!(:
