The 2011 Volleyball Tournament was held at George Fox University in April. Hayden Lake Friends took first for the Quaker Division (more competitive) and Meridian Friends took first for the Friends Division (less competitive). 2nd Street was selected to win the sportsmanship award. Thank you to all our volunteers, coaches and players for a great meet.

Bible Quizzing finished up in March with a final meet at Hayden Lake. For the fourth and final meet of the season Newberg Friends won the high school division, and Greenleaf Friends won middle school. For the whole season, Greenleaf won both the middle and high school divisions. Congrats! And thanks to everyone’s hard work and help!

YCEW 2011 has a team of 7 students and 2 leaders going to Cambodia this summer. The team includes: Anna Jolliff (North Valley Friends), Jered McConaughey (North Valley Friends), Aaron Posey (Crossroads), Joseph Canepa (Sherwood Friends), Tallie Koskela (Newberg Friends), Janna Fawver (Newberg Friends), and Katie Comfort (Reedwood Friends). The YCEW team will be led by, Kelsey Hampton (Newberg Friends) and Jesse Lamm (2nd Street Friends).

Looking ahead….

Samuel School II is a high school retreat for students selected by their local church elders, will be gathering at Quaker Hill Camp May 27-30. This time together includes various classes identifying spiritual gifts, spiritual growth, transitions, and identifying the ways individuals can hear God’s voice. The students and leaders also spend a day working together on the challenge course.

Youth Yearly Meeting is an important week for junior high and high school students to come together at George Fox University to learn about Friends business, practice discernment and build long-lasting relationships with peers around Northwest Yearly Meeting. Please encourage your students to attend. The dates are July 24-29, 2011.

In March, Jim and Jeanne Leonard were called by Entiat Friends to serve as their new pastors.

2nd Street Community is currently searching for the following: worship arts director, director of equipping and serving, community groups facilitator.
