Looking ahead…

Youth Yearly Meeting is an important week for junior high and high school students to come together at George Fox University to learn about Friends business, practice discernment, and build long-lasting relationships with peers around Northwest Yearly Meeting. Please encourage your students to attend. The dates are July 24-29, 2011.

Pastoral Transitions Include:

Bob (Sue) Henry has been called to Silverton Friends as their new senior pastor. Bob has been a campus minister at Huntington College in Indiana the last several years. He has also been doing pulpit ministry with a Mennonite church and is working on his doctoral dissertation at George Fox Evangelical Seminary.

Brad and Heather Tricola have resigned from Boise friends.

Ken (Rachel) Vanden Hoek is retiring from Sherwood Friends.

Brian (Amanda) Slagle is leaving West Chehalem.

Dick (Linda) Sartwell will be returning to fill the position of Friends Center Director at George Fox Evangelical Seminary.

Kimberly (Rob) Felton will be leaving the NWYM staff at the end of August to be at home with their newborn child, Madeleine Sophia, who was born June 22.

Krista Ray will be joining the NWYM staff as our new administrative assistant beginning mid-July.

The superintendent search is now over, and Becky Ankeny has been recommended to step into the position. Information on this process is available in the article featured in this edition, as well as the full version on the website:

Shelly Everett has accepted 2nd Street Community Church’s invitation to be their new worship arts director and will begin on July 1, 2011.

Gar (Vicky) Mickelson will be leaving the NWYM staff beginning in July. He will be serving as associate pastor and representative for Anthem in Coeur d’Alene, ID.

Brandon Baker has been called to be Reedwood Friends permanent youth Pastor.
