This year Surfside once again had record high numbers with 289 campers. Bob Henry explored the topic of “to the beat of a different drum” with the group of truth hungry high schoolers. He encouraged the youth to invest in community, experience the freedom of confession, reflect on their choices and celebrate the fierce love God has for all of us. In classes taught by Rachelle Staley, Eric Muhr and Shawn McConaughey campers also got the opportunity to learn about joy, the difficulty of being a Christian teenager, and the power that love holds. A highlight of the week was most definitely Tyrannosaurus Rec. Campers got to run, hide, and laugh together through dinosaur themed games as they released their playfulness with a slight edge of competitiveness. Many memories were made and prizes won, both physical and metaphorical. Beach day was a hit with plenty of fun had on the sand and in the surf. The Lord blessed us with a beautiful sunny day with a perfect cool breeze as we talked, ate, played and enjoyed community together. Overall Surfside 2015 was stretching, silly, fun, creative, epic and legit.
