Grasp the Significance of our Insignificance
In a world full of noble examples of “good works” reciprocating the evil lurking behind most every corner, it is easy to say that we—you and me—are doing very little toward peace. I have observed, however, that the minute a new “world altering solution” is released, a counter argument demands the light, accusing the proposed solution to be ridden with falsity and deceit. We are left believing that only large-scale solutions are applicable and on such a level, only perfection will be accepted; we are left believing that we have to find THE answer or no answer at all.
What if, however, we are searching for the right solution in the wrong direction? What if we decided to believe that on our own, we are not capable of saving the world in one sweeping motion, rather it is a process that will take many and it will take us all working together? I believe the realization of our individual insignificance could lift a weight from our shoulders and give significance to the small, peaceful and thoughtful choice. Today I am choosing to remember the significance of my insignificance and live as thoughtfully as I can because of it.
