We all bring something of ourselves to the table when we have a discussion. Perhaps it is positive and we are ready for God to speak to us through others. Perhaps it is negative and the discussion should be postponed until we have resolved our own inner conflict. These are the kinds of things we talked about in Sunday School using the Peace Month curriculum.
What some may perceive as life skills, are actually skills that most of us need to learn. Recognizing our own unresolved conflict sheds light on why we may avoid other stressful situations; or perhaps it is why we rarely are able to resolve conflict with others. Believing God can bring healing in my own life has helped me know when I need to “sit this one out” and spend time with Jesus resolving the things he brings to my mind. Believing God has brought healing also gives me the courage to spend time with him and come ready to listen and hear what others have to say. We all bring something to the table…I want to bring peace and a love for my brothers and sisters that far surpasses any conflict that we are up against.
