Giving. Each Thanksgiving through Christmas season I have opportunity after opportunity to give. I can give financially, volunteer my time and talents, and even donate clothing, food, and other items. I get awesome “Kings Catalogs” from places like Evangelical Friends Mission, Compassion International, World Vision, and Operation Mobilization has even added their gift catalog to the mix. Some of my favorite moments are spent reading through these with my children and seeing that for a few dollars we really can buy something that will last. I love blogging about ways to give! I often wonder though, if I am giving enough the rest of the year. There is such an excitement and push these last two months of the year that I often wait to give now and then January comes and giving isn’t at the front of my heart and mind.
To help keep giving in a more prominent position in our hearts, our youth group is thinking of sponsoring a child, having food and clothes drives during each season and volunteering at our local shelters on a regular basis. It’s awesome when the ideas start with them!
Hearing my children ask for gifts from “Kings Catalogs” brings such a joy to my heart that I just can’t wait to see what God is going to do through all our youth. Giving comes natural for some, and for some of us we need someone to help guide us along the path. I am so grateful to have everyone come along side each other and give.
Yes, give now. I don’t know that we can ever give too much. As we think ahead, though, let’s plan ways to keep giving all year long.
