I just left my son Forrest in a Koreatown neighborhood in downtown Los Angeles. He and two other students have rented a studio apartment for the next four months during which time they will begin a graduate program with Azusa Pacific University to learn how to do community organizing/development and church planting in the slums of our world’s major cities. If they make the cut during these four months they will be sent for two years to other parts of the world to get hands-on training.
This is a dream come true for Forrest. For as long as I can remember he has had a tender heart and a compassionate spirit. I am hopeful that this program will give him the tools to do what God has laid on his heart. It is hard to be apart, but it’s also exciting to see dreams sprout wings and fly.
Lord, please watch over my son. Provide for his needs as he helps others with theirs. And keep the dream alive when the going gets tough. Thank you!
