Ministry Points

Introduction to Ministry Points by Gar Mickelson:

Ministry Points

A ministry point is either a new church plant or an ongoing outreach effort that is attempting to establish a clear sense of mission, stability, functional structures, and appropriate autonomy. At times, a ministry point may meet infrequently, have very little organization, and meet in a variety of places.

Some ministry points may differ significantly from established NWYM churches in their leadership style, form of worship, and ministry function within their community. It is the desire of the Board of Local Outreach (BoLO) to use this flexible approach of church planting to see otherwise unreached people evangelized and the ministry and impact of NWYM increased.

Some Ministry Points of NWYM:

Anthem Friends:

Anthem Friends is one of our newest church plants, springing out of a group that has been running “Boarders for Christ” (BFC) for a number of years. BFC is a ministry to skate and snowboarders that began in Couer d’Alene, Idaho and spread to several chapters nationally. As the leadership desired a greater sense of worship and stability for their growing families, a worship group formed and they connected with NWYM, planting Anthem Friends.

Currently meeting in the Hayden Lake Friends Church facility, Anthem is growing and ministering to a divers group of people: skaters, boarders, homeless, young families, disenfranchised, business folk… the whole gamut.

24/7 Recovery Ministry:

Twenty-Four/Seven in North Idaho is a transitional and mentoring outreach to individuals recovering from addictions. It is a residential program, so clients live in the houses and participate in structured programming. In the program, Twenty-Four/Seven clients find out (possibly for the first time in their lives) that they can be loved and are loved. The Twenty-Four/Seven program also has rules and accountability.
