Short-Term Missions: Still Room for You

There are a few spots available for an opportunity to join the group of folks from NWYM who are being trained to lead short-term mission trips. Whether you want to help lead groups to our NWYM fields or take a group from your church to serve somewhere, this is must have opportunity. This training is provided by the Board of Global Outreach and will culminate in a trip to one of our fields for hands-on learning.  The first informational meeting is Saturday, October 6, in Newberg.

Prayer Journeys

In short-term service we often focus on work-projects, evangelism, or discipleship. What if the focus were on prayer? Prayer Journeys are an experience in communal prayerwalking through various global areas of need. The idea is to talk and walk in direct relationship to God, interceding and seeking God’s heart and plan for the people and places visited. It is praying in the places where we expect our prayers to be answered. Prayer Teams are made up of individuals sent out from NWYM to participate in intercessory prayer as a short-term (usually 2 week) team. Prayer journeys focus time and energy on intercession for unreached people and places, while providing encouragement and prayer on-site for the protection and strengthening of existing churches and believers. These journeys also have a long-term strategic role in achieving the Global Outreach vision by building relationships in countries that teams visit and praying that friends and families in those places come to know Jesus Christ.
