2015 Friends Women Retreat

Theme: Fixing Our Gaze
This is the year for our joint retreat to be held in Oregon at Twin Rocks Friends camp. We hope many women will be able to join us from all over the northwest.
We have an exciting retreat planned, with our guest speaker and missionary-in-residence, inspiring worship music, Bible study time, craft, great food, fellowship, relaxation, and lots of fun!

For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.
2 Corinthians 4:17-18

Speakers: Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Doreen Dodgen-Magee. Dr. Doreen Dodgen-Magee is a licensed psychologist in Portland, Oregon, maintaining both an individual therapy practice and a national public speaking docket. She has 23 years of experience working with adults dealing with issues of loss, depression and anxiety, relationships, and life transitions. She has a sub-specialty consulting with parents experiencing difficult child-related dilemmas. She is an author as well as a frequent guest lecturer in professional, medical and parenting circles; and offers continuing education for psychologists, medical professionals, educators and administrators.

Missionary-in-Residence: We are excited to have Debby Thomas join us as our missionary! She and her family are transitioning back to the United States after serving many years in Rwanda. Debby has finished the course work phase of her Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership, has passed her comprehensive exams, and is well into her dissertation phase. She hopes to finish her degree in 2015.

Other Activities: Crafts, workshops, and a silent auction. The proceeds of this year’s auction will help fund a retreat in for the pastors’ wives of Rwanda Yearly Meeting.
