PASSPORT COSTS ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE TRIP COST.
Expectations:
Please recognize this trip is intended to have a significant Christian aspect to it. For the sake of the team and our hosts you will be asked to comply with some life-style guidelines while in China that reflect Christian/Biblical morals. These guidelines may be more strict than your sense of Christian freedom normally allows. Conversely, sensitivity to our host country is crucial. Our purpose is to reflect our faith in our actions, attitudes and words but not to proselytize. By submitting your application you are agreeing to live by those guidelines while in China.
Fundraising and Finances:
Once you are accepted you can begin to raise funds. All funds are the responsibility of the applicant and must be paid prior to departure. Half of the cost of the trip is due by March 20th.
If you decide to withdraw after acceptance you may be responsible for costs incurred on your behalf(i.e. plane tickets, visa, etc.). We will try to offer some fundraising suggestions and support but can’t promise that fundraising events will cover your costs. Donations you receive are tax-deductible for the donor and should be directed to NWYM at the above address.
ALL FUNDS BECOME THE PROPERTY OF NWYM OF FRIENDS CHURCH ACCORDING TO REGULATIONS GOVERNING TAX-RECEIPTED FUNDS FOR NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS.
Orientation:
There will be 1 or 2 orientation events(TBD) as well as reading materials for preparation. All trip participants are expected to attend and be prepared by completing reading assignments.
Orientation events will take place in the Portland/Newberg, Oregon area and happen on weekends. You will also be asked to come 2 days prior to departure for China, for a final orientation event. It will be vital to your preparation. Travel costs to and from Newberg may (not guaranteed) be covered.
