Global Spotlight

by Dan Cammack, board of Global Outreach

Of the approximately 400 people who participated in Friends Summit 2010, 10 percent signed up for the EFM (Evangelical Friends Mission) track for future missionaries. Shawn McConaughey and I got to be a part of the leadership for that track. The seminars and discussion groups in that track were open to the other 90 percent and there were plenty of missionary-types to hang out with, so many, many young adults (16-25) got a good taste of missions. Seminar topics included “The Gospel of the Kingdom” and “How to Prepare for the Challenges of Missionary Service.” Discussions included “Poverty – How Can I Make a Difference?” and “A National’s Perspective of the Western Missionary.” The latter was led by David Niyonzima (Burundi) and Albert & Metali Adhikari (Bangladesh). I was impressed by how many of our youth are already globally conscious. Let’s pray that they will respond to God’s call to go into all the world and make disciples for Jesus Christ.
