Charles (Chuck) Mylander recently announced his retirement as executive director of Evangelical Friends Mission after 10 years of service, effective December 31, 2011. A search committee has been formed to seek a replacement. His stellar work led EFM into several new fields, a budget in the $2 million range, and a delightful diversity and depth of global outreach for evangelical Friends. EFM is a mission agency for Evangelical Friends Church International—North America Region.
Chuck refers to his job with EFM as “the best job of my life” and calls the more than 30 EFM international workers his “heroes and friends.” He has visited them repeatedly in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Friends expansion in Asia has been especially noteworthy.
Chuck and his wife, Nancy (Nordyke), grew up in Northwest Yearly Meeting in Boise and Salem and attended George Fox University together. Prior EFM directors have been Robert Hess (India and Eastern Region), James Morris (Burundi and Mid-America), and Norval Hadley (Northwest and Southwest Friends).
