Forty Days with the Gospel of John: a Devotional Exercise for Easter

by Paul Anderson

As you prepare for Easter this year, here are several things worth mentioning, featuring the Gospel of John (the Quaker Gospel).

First, at the end of this article is a forty-day exercise you are welcome to use and pass along to your congregations and prayer groups designed to create a transformative reading of the biblical text (one is date-specific; the other is general). Feel free to make use of this tool to encourage daily devotional Bible reading—a spiritual discipline that has too easily been neglected.

Second, I’ll be conducting a workshop on “Reading the Gospel of John for Personal Transformation” at the Kaleo Conference at Fox a week from Saturday—come join us if you can (especially if you’re working with the Bible-Quiz teams on the gospel of John this spring—kids are welcome too):

Third, my new introduction to John is coming out next month (The Riddles of the Fourth Gospel); a 30% pre-publication discount is available at Barnes & Noble and elsewhere, so if you could let folks
know (and pick one up yourself!), I’d appreciate that greatly!

Thanks so much, and many blessings!

Forty Days with the Gospel of John (pre-Easter)
Forty Days with the Gospel of John (general)

PS—I’m also happy to come and speak on the Gospel of John and
Spirituality (or other themes) for any churches or groups that might
be “desperate for the truth” (smile). Here to serve you!
