The Peace and Justice Sub-Committee of the Board of Global Outreach is urging Friends in Northwest Yearly Meeting to join in providing a “covering of prayer” for a team of young Friends and their leaders going to Congo. The will be participating in a conference on Christian Peacemaking sponsored by Congo Yearly Meeting on July 8-12. Congo has experienced decades of violent conflict, especially in Eastern Congo where the Friends churches are located. Clint Baldwin, a member of the sub-committee and Director of the Center for Peace and Justice at George Fox University, along with Lon Fendall, former director of the center, will be the leaders. Four young Friends will join them as presenters and participants in the conference.
Covering all the Congo in prayer for eternal freedom from violence.
