The NWYM Administrative Council met in Portland, OR on September 12, 2015, to begin deciding how to process the appeals filed by a number of meetings in objection to the decision of the Elders vis a vis West Hills Friends.
The Administrative Council will meet again in November, but has not determined a timeline for a decision. Since the AC has accepted the appeal as outlined in Faith & Practice, West Hills Friends is a full member of NWYM at least until the end of 2015. If the Elders’ decision stands, the earliest at which legal separation could occur would be December 31, 2016.
Like any subgroup of the Yearly Meeting, the AC will abide within the Faith & Practice. Where the duties of the AC are clearly stated in the Faith & Practice, the AC will act accordingly. Where its duties are not clearly stated, the AC will make recommendations.
Though the AC is not publicly posting letters that have been received from individuals and ad-hoc groups, the Presiding Clerk and the AC are and have been reading and considering all letters that are received.
