WEEK 2: Practicing “on the spot” prayer
You are invited to accept a daily challenge to pray aloud and “on the spot” with at least one other person each day this week. So often when we hear someone share a need or concern with us, we respond “I will pray for you.” That’s good, but wouldn’t it be even better to reply “Let’s pray.”
If you want to be intentional to try this out as a daily exercise this week, then chances are you will need to create the situation by initiating a visit or a phone call in which you ask another person how you can be in prayer for them. This other person could be a family member, a member of your small group, someone from the church, or it could happen spontaneously as you encounter someone telling you about their needs. May the Lord direct your steps to be a blessing to others each day this week.
Galatians 6:2 encourages us, “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
Who needs your prayer and encouragement? Take a few moments to list the names of several people in your life who are carrying burdens. Begin asking the Lord to open your heart toward praying for and even with them this week.
