WEEK 6: Practicing the presence of God
Read Psalm 34:17-20
Did you know that God’s presence is with you when you suffer and when you are brokenhearted?
Have you had a time in your life when you have felt this?
Hear these words of Church father Augustine of Hippo: “In affliction, then, we do not know what to pray for. Because affliction is difficult, troublesome, and against the grain for us, weak as we are, we do what every human would do. We pray that it may be taken away from us. However, if he does not take it away, we must not imagine that he has forgotten us. In this way, power shines forth more perfectly in weakness.”
Write your thoughts about this challenge: “Unexpected Prayers” (apprehensions, prayers, reflections, etc.). Be prepared to share your thoughts with your small group.
Ask someone in your family how you can pray for them today and take some time to do that “on the spot” with them.
