WEEK 1: Practicing The Lord’s Prayer
Re-read Luke 11:1-13
When Jesus prayed “Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us,” he is inviting us to ask God to only forgive us to the extent we have forgiven others. Is there someone you need to forgive?
The Lord’s Prayer connects “heaven” and “earth” by inviting us to align our everyday affairs (things like relationships and forgiveness and even “daily bread” or physical needs) to heavenly concerns (like God’s will being done and his name being honored).
Is Jesus in control of your daily life? Do you stop to pray about relationships that are strained? Do you pray about your daily needs, your bills or finances (daily bread)?
Recite the Lord’s Prayer three times today.
Spend some time in silence before God. Invite him to speak to you. Write down your reflections and/or questions from this time.
If you would ask anything of Jesus today, what would it be? If Jesus would ask anything of you today, what would it be?
