WEEK 5: Practicing prayer partnership
Read James 5:13-20
Under what circumstances does James recommend we turn to God?
This week’s challenge of finding a prayer partner will be scary for most and very difficult for some. In general, are you willing to allow someone else the blessing of praying for and with you? If you are a member of a small group, Bible Study, YIPPS, or other praying group that meets regularly, then you are already well practiced and following through on this challenge. Praise God! If, on the other hand, you are new to this challenge, then we also say Praise God – let’s give this a go!
Write down the names of at least three people of whom you can easily say, “I know he/she would be ready and willing to pray for me.” Ask God to break down the barriers of fear or pride that keep you from this blessing. After this prayer partner week challenge is over, are you willing to commit to regular prayer partnership?
Pray with your prayer partner today.
Consult your church’s avenue of sharing prayer requests. Take time to lift up the needs of your church family.
